Windows 10 Phones will support Android

Windows 10 Phones will support Android apps and hamburger menus and users will soon be able to enjoy it.

An ex-Microsoft designer who is now working with Twitter has revealed that Windows Phone users will soon be able to enjoy support for Android apps and hamburger menus. The ex-employee of Microsoft claims to have designed the Office app for Windows 10 for phone.

Through the recent Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on Reddit, he revealed that the original design model for Windows Phone apps puts actions at the bottom portion and on the sides are the navigation options that can be accessed through swipes. He claims that the old interaction model does not work was required to be replaced by a newer model.

While building the newer Office apps, the designers felt that they need to add lots of features in a very tight real estate. Hence, a harmburger menu was chosen as the best solution. Win Supersite is of the view that the Reddit discussion is not just related to Office apps for Windows Phone users but also it sheds light on the design of new UI of the unreleased Windows 10 for phone operating system.

As far as bringing support for Android apps on Windows Phone devices is concerned, he does not reveal much info but claims that Microsoft is making “interesting moves on this front.” He claims that he does not have further information but adds that the new Windows 10 appears more like Android.

Recently, Microsoft had released the second technical preview build of Windows 10 Mobile for Windows Insider users. The new build version is 10051. Unlike the first preview build that support only six Lumia devices, the newer build supports over 25 Lumia devices. The entire list of the supported Lumia devices is listed on the official blog of Microsoft Windows. An International Business Times report claims that Microsoft will reveal Lumia 940 and 940 XL flagships with Windows 10 onboard later this year.
